One vug is lined with quartz and contains a conglomeration of fan shaped xls to 7mm. The other vug is quartz lined as well and contains a few small individual boltwoodite xls. When exposed to SW UV light there's a mineral layer in the matrix that glows bright neon green. Boltwoodite contains uranium. Care should be taken in the handling and storing of this specimen. |

![]() Demantoid Garnet Specimen #AF05 4.7 x 3.0 x 2.3cm Miniature Erongo Range, North of Karibib, Namibia $45 Fluorescent If you like gemmy specimens, then this one is for you. Most of the demantoid xls on this specimen show some geminess. The largest measures 3mm. I don't come across two many good matrix specimens of this species, so here's your chance to own one for yourself. There is a microscopic druzy coating of another species on part of this piece that is wonderfully reactive to SW UV light as my last photo portrays. A very cool rock! |

![]() Quartz (w/Amethyst Phantom) and Prehnite Specimen #AF07 4.5 x 3.2 x 2.8cm Large Miniature Tafelkop, near Brandberg, Namibia $75 This specimen is a wonderful combo piece. It consists of two perfectly terminated quartz xls with a pale green coating of prehnite xls. Both quartz points are perfect which is rare, as they always seem to show some sort of damage. What really makes this a killer specimen, is the "phantom" amethyst zoning contained within one of the quartz xls. In addition, there is another quartz xl "encased" within this xl as well. It looks as though one xl grew over the other. It's almost impossible to capture this with the camera and is much more discernible with the naked eye. I can't say that I've ever seen this type of amethyst effect in a quartz specimen before. It looks like someone poured purple paint into the quartz while it was forming. This is a really an unusual piece of mother nature! |

![]() Smoky Quartz with Schorl Tourmaline Specimen #AF08 6.2 x 4.7 x 3.7cm Small Cabinet Erongo Range, North of Karibib, Namibia $35 This specimen consists of a number of smoky quartz xls that have a two very nice schorl xls perched on top of them. Some of the quartz xls around the periphery of the specimen show some damage, while the xls in the front of the display are intact. They are coated with some sort of a white druzy coating. The stars of this piece, to my mind, are the schorl xls. They have formed around the quartz xls and are virtually perfect. The larger one measures 1.8 x 1.7cm and is nicely terminated. The smaller one measures 1.4 x 1.2cm and is terminated as well. A very interesting mineral specimen! |
