![]() Beryl var. Aquamarine, Albite & Muscovite Specimen #Aqua01 Taplejung Nepal 3.2 x 2.7 x 1.7cm Small Miniature New Find $175 While visiting Scott Werschky earlier this summer, I came across the bluest Aquamarine specimens I'd ever seen. I had to ask him if they had been treated to make them look this way and he reported that indeed, they had not. They come from a brand new find in Taplejung, Nepal of all places. I snatched all six that Scott had to offer. Their color is outrageous! Please note: I've done my best to as truly as possible, reproduce the actual color of these specimens. Looking at the pictures on my monitor, the pictures appear a bit bit bluer than in real life. I feel it's just a matter of my monitor, but a point that I wanted to pass along. This specimen consists of a singly terminated aqua xl that measures 2.9x0.6cm and displays a very nice blue color. I would describe the termination as "complex". It is not the typical termination you'd see on other Beryl specimens. It is nonetheless terminated with no discernible damage to the termination. There is an internal fracture in this xl but is stable and the xl is being firmly held in place by the albite. The tabular muscovite xls add a very nice color and textural contrast making this an excellent display specimen, in my humble opinion. |

![]() Beryl var. Aquamarine, Albite, Quartz & Muscovite Specimen #Aqua02 Taplejung Nepal 3.0 x 3.0 x 1.8cm Large Thumbnail New Find $150 This specimen consists of a single aqua xl (1.7x1.0cm) that appears to have possibly cleaved at one time and then healed. I say this because the left side of the xl (see picture to left) has been partially encased in albite. I honestly can't say whether it actually cleaved or not. If feel it may have as the the albite looks as though it held a longer xl at one time. You be the judge? The other end (right) of the xl could be terminated as well, but it's hard to say. The outside edges of the xl have an "etched" appearance to them (see lower photos). The color of the aqua is outrageously blue and this makes a great display piece in my opinion. Besides the aqua, their are a few terminated quartz xls and a few muscovite xls adding a nice contrast. This is one cool rock! |

![]() Beryl var. Aquamarine, Albite & Muscovite Specimen #Aqua03 Taplejung Nepal 2.4 x 2.3 x 1.2cm Small Miniature New Find $95 This specimen consists of a couple terminated aqua xls. Based on the photo to the left, the upper end of each xl has a complex termination but the lower ends are fractured (photo to left). Personally, If I were to keep this specimen, I would trim a bit off the main xl. I personally think it displays very well as it is, but wanted to be as accurate with my description as possible. The xls rest in a bed of albite and there are a few small tabular muscovite xls on the back side of this specimen. A nice mineral specimen at a very affordable price! |

![]() Beryl var. Aquamarine, Albite & Muscovite Specimen #Aqua04 Taplejung Nepal 4.3 x 3.5 x 3.3cm Miniature New Find $175 This specimen consists of a doubly (?) terminated aqua xl measuring 3.6x0.8cm that is almost completely encased in albite. The termination's are completely different from one another and both are displayed in the pictures that follow. One displays the "complex" form as previous specimens while the other is smooth and just about flat. Hmmmm.........interesting? The xl rests within a bed of albite and one could try and etch away the encasing albite to better expose the blue aqua xl. There are also a few clusters of tabular muscovite xls on one side of this specimen adding a nice contrast. All in all, a very nice mineral specimen. |

![]() Beryl var. Aquamarine, Albite & Muscovite Specimen #Aqua05 Taplejung Nepal 2.7 x 2.5 x 2.0cm Large Thumbnail New Find $250 This specimen consists of three individual aqua xls that have "grown" together. All three are singly terminated with no discernible damage. The "cluster" of xls measures 2.0x1.3cm. They rest on a bed of tabular muscovite xls with a bit of attached albite adding for a nice contrast to the aqua. All in all, this is my favorite piece as it has the best form although the color of the aqua xls is a bit paler than the others. I might add that this aqua xl is by far the gemmiest one of the bunch. Enjoy it, as this is an excellent mineral specimen in my humble opinion. |
