Small Cabinet
Araquai, Minas Gerais

Here's an excellent example of "black" kyanite from Brazil.  It's comprised of a solid mass of kyanite xls formed in the shape of a fan. The individual xls display a bit of luster.  Some minor edge chaffing.  Nice specimen!

Native Silver on Acanthite
Specimen #Key02
Hong da Mine
Linqiu
Shanxi Province
China

3.2 x 2.6 x 2.2cm
Miniature

This specimen is made up of  a number of parallel growth silver masses and wire silver clusters between chunks of acanthite. The way it was formed provides for a wonderful contrast between the native silver and acanthite.  Enjoy!

Rhodochrosite
Specimen #Key03
4.6 x 3.3 x 1.4cm
Miniature
Capillitas Mine
Catamarca Province
Argentina
$45

Here's an example of a somewhat rare creature  - crystalline rhodochrosite from Argentina.  The xls are somewhat botryoidal with partial rhombs, an unusual habit for rhodochrosite.  The internal portion of this piece shows bright pink almost cherry red xls while the outer portion is coated with a druzy coating of quartz?  I haven't seen may of these specimens come onto the market in the last number of years, so enjoy!

Rhodochrosite and Galena

4.5 x 4.1 x 2.6cm
Miniature
Julia Fisk Mine
Leadville
Lake County

Defunct Locality

This specimen is covered with numerous pale pink bladed rhodo xls that form rosettes. In addition, there are numerous shiny reflective galena xls adding a nice contrast.  This is a very nice piece from a defunct Colorado local.

Native Silver
Specimen #Key05
Uchucchacua Mine
Oyon Province
Lima Department
Peru
2.5 x 2.0 x 1.1cm
Thumbnail
$85

This specimen consists of a mass of exquisitely formed silver wire perched on top of matrix.  Looking close at the matrix it displays a very familiar pink color that I believe might be rhodochrosite.  Hey, two bangs for your buck!   A very attractive silver combination specimen in my humble opinion. Enjoy!

Please Note: This specimen has been damaged.  The larger silver xl has broken off the piece.  I believe it is repairable and feel it could still be an attractive and displayable specimen given a good repair job.  Purchase any other specimen in the clearnace room or from any other page on my site and I will include this piece at no extra charge.  How's that for a deal?  Please mention this deal in your e-mail to me.

Atacamite, Chrysocolla, Pseudomalachite, Halloysite
Specimen #Key08
8.3 x 5.7 x 2.5cm
Small Cabinet
La Farola Mine, Cerro Pintado
Tierra Amarilla, Copiapó Province
Atacama Region, Chile
Type Locality
$35

There is a whole lot going on with this rock. It's comprised of a base rock that's been covered (or painted over) with multiple generations or depositions of mineral species. There's a generation of blue botryoidal chrysocolla forming a base or possibly initial generation. On top of that there is a bit of pseudomalachite, and possibly olivenite. The large dark green sprays are atacamite, measuring up to 2.0cm. There is also a coating of white micro botryoidal crystals which we believe to be halloysite. They could also be kaolinite, but we're pretty sure that they're halloysite. There is a bit of "chipping" or "fraying" around the edges of this specimen. This is a very colorful and showy specimen none the less. Enjoy!

Calcite

Sweetwater Mine
Reynolds County
Missouri
$45

Here's a specimen that's made up of  numerous gemmy and nearly water clear, singly to doubly terminated calcite xls to 2.3cm on matrix.  There is virtually no noticeable damage to this piece and there is also minor chalcopyrite occurring on it.  Great display piece.

Fluorite, Sphalerite and Quartz

Miniature
3.7x3.4x2.4 cm
Idarado Mine

While digging through my stash of rocks, I came across a number of fluorite specimens from Colorado.  This mine is now closed, so what's out there in the market place is it.  This piece consists of four cubic fluorite xls to 1cm that are perched on top of a bed of snow white quartz and somewhat gemmy sphalerite xls.  There are a couple of minor dings to the fluorite. This is  nice and affordable specimen from a defunct local.  Enjoy!

Here's a nice combination piece.  It consists of a bed of ivory white crystalline albite with an inter grown light pink apatite xl.  The apatite xl is very lustrous and glows bright pink under SW UV light.  The apatite xl measures 1.0x0.9cm and is undamaged. There are also a few small golden calcite xls found on this specimen.

This specimen is similar to Key08.  It is a larger specimen and displays more Atacamite xls.  It's also comprised of a base rock that's been covered (or painted over) with multiple generations or depositions of mineral species. There's a generation of blue botryoidal chrysocolla forming a base or possibly initial generation. On top of that there is a bit of pseudomalachite, and possibly olivenite. The large dark green sprays are atacamite, measuring up to 2.2cm. There's also a minor amount of white micro botryoidal crystals which we believe to be halloysite. They could also be kaolinite, but we're pretty sure that they're halloysite. There is a very minor amount of "chipping" or "fraying" around the edges of this specimen. This is a very colorful and showy specimen none the less. Enjoy!
