Cactus Amethyst
Specimen #World02
Kwandebele
Mphumalanga
South Africa
7.2x5.5x4.0cm
Small Cabinet

Here's a rather cute quartz var amethyst specimen otherwise known as "cactus" quartz.  There's a bit of staining to this specimen and a contact point on it's backside.  The "tips" of the cactus are complete and undamaged.   An excellent display piece.

Calcite and Quartz
Specimen #World03
Boldut Mine
Cavnic
Romania
4.9x3.9x3.1cm
Large Miniature
Fluorescent

This specimen reminds me a sunny side up egg.  The yellow calcite xl forms a nearly perfect circle nestled in a bed of frosty white to water clear quartz with minor pyrite.  The "yolk" measures 2.0 cm across and glows pinkish-red under SW UV light.  An excellent display piece from Romania

Descloizite
Specimen #World04
Berg Aukus
Grootfontein
Namibia
Africa
3.0x2.9x2.5cm
Miniature
$45

Here's a beautiful specimen from Africa.  The Descloizite xl's are gemmy with an almost blood red color to them as well as looking metallic.  It all depends on how the light strikes the specimen.  The largest xl measure 1.2 cm across and this specimen shows no damage.

Fluorite on Dolomite
Specimen #World05
Shangbao Mine
Hunan Province
China
9.9x4.7x2.8cm
Cabinet

Classic fluorite from China!  The cubes are all intact, translucent and show a bit of internal purple phantoming. The largest xl measures 2.0x1.8cm Cool rock!

Fluorite
Specimen #World06
Fengjiashan Mine
Hubei
Gansu Province
China
4.8x4.5x2.0cm
Large Miniature
Fluorescent
$100

This specimen is simply AWESOME!  It's made up of a pyramidal fluorite xl (2.0x2.1cm) that's dark green on the outside and appears to have a purple interior.  It sits atop what appears to be a bed of calcite.  This specimen is wonderfully reactive under SW UV light as one of my photos shows.   Enjoy!

Rutile on Hematite
Specimen #World07
Novo Horizonte
Bahia
Brazil
3.0x1.9x0.4cm
Large Thumbnail
$35

I love these specimens.  They're extremely delicate and beautiful.  The rutile "hairs" have the color of gold while the hematite is jet black.  Enjoy!

Spinel Twin
Specimen #World08
Ampanivana
Madagascar
3.0x1.5x1.0cm
Large Thumbnail

Here's a beautiful twinned spinel on quartz specimen from Madagascar.  The major xl measures 1.0x1.2 as is complete and damage free. An excellent display piece from a world class location!

Tourmaline
Specimen #World09
Pala Chief Mine
San Diego County
California
USA
3.7x2.7x1.7cm
Miniature
$75

If you like pink tourmaline specimens, then this is your piece.  It SCREAMS color as my pictures humbly portray.  This comes from a find made in 2001.   An awesome display specimen!

Bi-Colored Tourmaline
Specimen #World10
Cryo-Genie Mine
San Diego County
California
USA
2.6x1.0x0.8cm
Miniature

Here's another nice tourmaline from my home state of California.  I picked up a number of specimens from the brothers who were mining this claim at the Tucson show a few years back and just came across them once again.  As far as I know, they haven't found specimens of this quality in the last few years, so I'm glad I bought what I did, when I did.  This specimen is singly terminated, undamaged and bi-colored.  It's mostly pale pink with a end cap of pale green color.  A very nice display specimen!
