![]() Descloizite Specimen #Des01 Berg Aukus Mine Grootfontein Namibia 3.0 x 2.0 x 1.0cm Large Thumbnail $35 Descloizite is a secondary mineral in oxidized zone of vanadium bearing base metal deposits. I haven't had the opportunity to study many of these specimens in the past, but I've really enjoyed working with the following specimens. Their color and formation is unique and quite attractive in my humble opinion. Many of the specimens are very 3 dimensional which proved difficult in capturing in a photograph. I did do some backlighting in order to display the awesome red orange to coca cola coloring of some of the specimens. To me, there is something very reptilian about these specimens. They look dinosaur like with all of their dark brown plates. Enjoy them, I sure did! This specimen is comprised of numerous bladed, butterscotch colored crystals to 8 mm with no discernible damage. |

![]() Descloizite Specimen #Des04 Berg Aukus Mine Grootfontein Namibia 3.7 x 2.0 x 1.0cm Miniature $50 This specimen is comprised of numerous bladed, yellow brown to orangy brown colored crystals. This piece begins to exhibit the three dimensional characteristics I mentioned in my introduction. It also shows individual crystals which remind me of pyramids or sharks teeth. They display a very rich amber color when backlit. In addition, they are tabularly arranged kind of like a deck of cards laid out over a table. There is no discernible damage to this excellent specimen.. |

![]() Descloizite Specimen #Des07 Berg Aukus Mine Grootfontein Namibia 5.3 x 2.8 x 1.5cm Small Cabinet $75 This specimen is comprised of numerous bladed, butterscotch to orangy brown colored crystals with sheaf habit. They are tabularly arranged kind of like a deck of cards laid out over a table. There are two larger xls that protrude from the main crystal body at nearly a 90 degree angle, making this a very interesting display specimen. There could be some minor edge damage to this specimen, or a contact point, but I can't say for sure even under 7x magnification. |

![]() Descloizite Specimen #Des08 Berg Aukus Mine Grootfontein Namibia 4.6 x 3.0 x 2.0cm Large Miniature $125 This is probably one of my favorite specimens from this update. It's made up of numerous "sharks tooth" xls that are brownish red when backlit. Many of the xls are tabularly arranged kind of like a deck of cards laid out over a table. There is no discernible damage to this really excellent specimen and it's much better and 3 dimensional in person than these feeble photos portray. |

![]() Descloizite Specimen #Des12 Berg Aukus Mine Grootfontein Namibia 3.2 x 2.2 x 2.0cm Miniature $25 This specimen is comprised of numerous bladed orangy brown colored crystals, arranged in a helter skelter pattern all around a central core. The main xl shown in photo 2 is even somewhat gemmy. The small extension that can be seen in the last photo is "loose". The central core on which the descloizite xls formed has come loose, thus allowing this portion to wiggle around, but not fall off. I guess a person could glue it back in place but I kinda like the specimen the way it is. It you purchase any other descloizite specimen in this update, I'll sell this specimen for $10, but you have to mention this deal in your request. Just checking to see who's actually reading my dribble. |
