Gypsum is a hydrated Sulfate with the name coming from the Arabic jibs,
for “plaster”, and Greek gypsos for “chalk”. This specimen displays the
twinning common to this species, forming a “swallow tail”. This piece
has abundant individual almost colorless crystals, “growing” out of
matrix. The major twin as well most of the other crystals show no
damage.
