Gypsum is a hydrated Sulfate with the name coming from the Arabic jibs, for “plaster”, and Greek gypsos for “chalk”. This specimen displays the twinning common to this species, forming a “swallow tail”. This piece has abundant individual almost colorless crystals, “growing” out of matrix. The major twin as well most of the other crystals show no damage.
