![]() Rhodochrosite, Fluorite, Calcite and Pyrite Specimen #rh08ch01 3.2 x 3.2 x 1.9cm Miniature Liu Bao Mine Wuzhou Prefecture Guangxi Zhuang A.R. China Mildly Fluorescent $95 I came across these specimens a short while ago and snapped them up almost instantaneously, as I had not seen specimens of this quality and price from China before. In my opinion, some of them resemble some of the better Sweet Home specimens, although lacking the dark cherry red color of the best that Sweet Home had to offer. I hope to be able to purchase more specimens like these in the future but there is no guarantee, as with all mining adventures, there's no saying when finds will play out. This piece consists of a mass of rhodochrosite and fluorite xls that have been "bonded" together by a mass of quartz and possibly calcite xls. I say calcite, as this specimen glows faintly red orange under SW UV light. The rhodo rhombs are pale pink, somewhat gemmy and range in size to 5-6mm. The fluorite xls are light purple to nearly clear and add a nice color contrast. No damage! |

China $125 This piece consists of a mass of intergrown rhodo, fluorite and quartz xls. The rhodo rhombs are light pink, some very gemmy and range in size to 1cm. The fluorite xls add a nice color contrast as do the small pyrite xls. Nice specimen! |

![]() Rhodochrosite, Pyrite and Quartz Specimen #rh08ch03 5.8x 5.2 x 4.2cm Small Cabinet Liu Bao Mine Wuzhou Prefecture Guangxi Zhuang A.R. China $295 This piece is made up of a cementatious matrix that houses numerous dark pink rhodo rhombs to 1.2cm. Some exhibit a druzy quartz coating. The way the xls have grown together has formed a natural hole or vug. The entrance to the vug is lined with quartz "starbursts". The pyrite adds a very nice luster to this piece and provides a nice contrast to the rhodochrosite. There is also a bit of galena attached to the pyrite xls. Minor edge "chaffing" is present, but otherwise this piece is intact and quite attractive in my humble opinion. |

![]() Rhodochrosite, Pyrite, Quartz and Galena Specimen #rh08ch04 3.2 x 3.1 x 2.4cm Miniature Liu Bao Mine Wuzhou Prefecture Guangxi Zhuang A.R. China $195 Here's an attractive combination specimen that displays rhodochrosite, quartz, pyrite and galena. The rhodo rhombs on this specimen are dark pink, almost completely intact, range in size to 1.5cm and exhibit a gem quality within several of the rhombs. The rhombs are flanked by bright and lustrous pyrite with a bit of minor galena thrown in for good measure. Cool rock! |

![]() Rhodochrosite Specimen #rh08ch05 4.5 x 4.0 x 1.4cm Miniature Liu Bao Mine Wuzhou Prefecture Guangxi Zhuang A.R. China $425 This piece is PURE rhodochrosite! It proved difficult to get close up photos of, as it is so delicate in it's structure. I can best describe the rhodo xls as intricately stepped with nearly razor sharp edges or terminations, reminding me of a large rosette. This is a pattern that I have only seen in a rare hand full of South African specimens. I'd be happy if y'all passed on this specimen, as I would gladly add it to my own collection. LOL! There might be just the slightest amount of edge "wear" on one portion of this piece, but I cannot find anything else that looks like damage. This along with the next piece are my two favorites on this page. This is a unique and very attractive Chinese rhodochrosite specimen! Enjoy! |

![]() Rhodochrosite, Pyrite and Quartz Specimen #rh08ch06 8.5 x 5.0 x 2.5cm Small Cabinet Liu Bao Mine Wuzhou Prefecture Guangxi Zhuang A.R. China $495 This is a KILLER Chinese specimen and one of two favorites in this update. It's made up of a base matrix (it has a few cracks in it, but is stable) that is home to numerous sharp rhombs to 1.3cm. Chinese material has gotten to the point of rivaling Colorado material in my humble rhodochrosite loving opinion, and this piece proves it. The rhombs are all sharp, undamaged and vary in color from light to dark pink. Some even exhibit a bit of gemminess. What more can I say that the pictures don't? This is one excellent rhodochrosite specimen! Also found on this piece are minor quartz and a number of small pyrite xls perched on top of several of the rhodo rhombs. Wow! |

![]() Rhodochrosite, Quartz, Pyrite and Galena Specimen #rh08ch07 8.7 x 6.2 x 4.5cm Small Cabinet Badu Mine Tianlin County Baise Prefecture Guangxi Zhuang A.R. China $75 This is an excellent combination specimen that contains rhodochrosite, quartz, pyrite and galena. It's basically a mass of quartz spires (to 4cm) that are home to a number of clusters of rhodo rhomb "rosettes" as well as pyrite or chalcopyrite xls. I've also found a few small clear fluorite xls on this piece as well as a small bit of what could huebnerite. The piece is intact except for a few damaged quartz xls. |

![]() Fluorite and Rhodochrosite (Pyrite and Quartz) Specimen #rh08ch08 2.7 x 2.4 x 2.3cm Thumbnail Yaogangxian Mine Yizhang County Chenzhou Prefecture Hunan Province China $75 This is a very attractive thumbnail specimen. It consists of numerous purple fluorite cubes that display rather complex modified cubic faces and are coated by druzy pyrite. Scattered about the fluorite are a number of pale pink rhodo rosettes to 5mm adding a nice contrast. Also found on the bottom of this specimen is a cluster of quartz xls. No damage. |

![]() Rhodochrosite, Quartz and Pyrite Specimen #rh08ch09 3.4 x 3.0 x 1.2cm Miniature Liu Bao Mine Guangxi Zhuang A.R. China $95 What more can I say that the pictures don't already convey. This piece is a two sided plate in my opinion as it can be displayed from either side. One side is almost completely covered (photo) by light pink rhodo rosettes, while the other side is home to quartz, pyrite and some rhodo xls. Minor edge damage where it was released from the matrix. Possible minor wolframite on this piece as well. |

![]() Rhodochrosite, Fluorite and Quartz Specimen #rh08ch10 4.8 x 4.0 x 3.4cm Large Miniature Liu Bao Mine Wuzhou Prefecture Guangxi Zhuang A.R. China $195 This specimen is made up of numerous rhodo rhombs (to 1.3cm) that range in color from dark pink to almost cherry red. The are mostly intact with some having been contacted along their edges. In addition there are several purple fluorite cubes that appear as if they had been etched and then began to re-grow. An interesting look. There are also numerous milky white quartz xls as well as a few small pyrite xls. Quite an attractive Chinese specimen! |
