![]() Rhodochrosite Specimen #rh08nsa01 4.6 x 3.3 x 1.4cm Miniature Capillitas Mine Catamarca Province Argentina $45 Here's an example of a somewhat rare creature - crystalline rhodochrosite from Argentina. The xls are somewhat botryoidal with partial rhombs, an unusual habit for rhodochrosite. The internal portion of this piece shows bright pink almost cherry red xls while the outer portion is coated with a druzy coating of quartz? I haven't seen may of these specimens come onto the market in the last number of years, and I feel lucky to have three listed in this update. Enjoy! |

![]() Rhodochrosite Specimen #rh08nsa07 8.5 x 6.1 x 4.4cm Small Cabinet Sunnyside Mine American Tunnel Silverton District San Juan County, Colorado Ex Otto Ray Collection Defunct Locality $295 This is a KILLER specimen! I don't come across Sunnyside pieces very often that display this bright a pink color in the rhodo rhombs. This piece displays numerous bubble gum pink rhombs to 1.6cm and they are almost all intact. In addition to the rhodo, there is minor druzy quartz found on this specimen. Looking closer between the rhombs I've found a number of masses of clear crystalline masses which could be apatite or possibly even fluorite, but I cannot say for sure as they are too small and too clear to be properly identified. All in all, this is an excellent display specimen with screaming pink color from a defunct local. |

![]() Rhodochrosite Specimen #rh08nsa08 4.1 x 4.0 x 3.0cm Miniature Manuelita Mine Morococha District Yauli Province Junin Department, Peru $45 From south of the border comes a very interesting specimen. It has something going on from every angle and is a fun one to check out under magnification. The major player here are the bladed pink rhodo xls on top of the specimen. Some are coated with druzy pyrite xls, giving them a nice sheen! This is one cool rock that is virtually intact! |
