Orpiment
Specimen #Russia10
Elbrusskiy Mine
35 km NE of Elbruss Mountain
N. Caucasus
Russia
6.3x4.9x2.1cm
Small Cabinet
$65

Here's one from the "Mother Country"! It's made up of a base matrix (possibly barite or calcite) that's home to numerous lustrous orpiment xls. They range from individual "stick shaped" individual xls to massive conglomerations of numerous xls to 1.3cm. No damage.

Pyrite and Calcite
Specimen #Russia11
Dal'Negorsk
Primorsky Kray
Russian Far East
Russia
8.7x7.2x3.3cm
Small Cabinet
$75

This is a very unique specimen (in my opinion) and the more I look at it, the more I like it.  It's comprised of two octahedral pyrite xls (to 2.3cm) with modified faces, surrounded by a bed of  frosty white calcite xls (to 1.5cm) that have chocolate brown cores (included).  To top it off , there is a light "dusting" of druzy quartz xls partially coating the calcite, all sitting on a bed of sedimentary matrix.  No appreciable damage.

Pyrrhotite and Boulangerite
Specimen #Russia12
Nickolaevsky Mine
Dal'Negorsk
Primorsky Kray
Russian Far East
Russia
4.6x4.0x3.6cm
Large Miniature
Defunct Local
$95

Pyrrhotite is found with Pentlandite in basic igneous rocks, veins and metamorphic rocks. It is also often found with Pyrite, Marcasite and Magnetite. It has varying magnetic powers, depending on the number of Fe vacancies in the crystal structure.  This specimen is made up of a tabular pyrrhotite xls very much reminding me of a deck of cards in the way they have formed.  Many layers of slender, paper thin xls, stacked one atop the other.  Perched on top, is a mass of snow white quartz xls along with jet black to metallic boulangerite xls.  Hidden in a few nooks are what appear to be slender needle like chrysotile fibers.  This specimen is MUCH better in person as metallic specimens are difficult to get good photos of.  An incredible specimen from a defunct local.  Na Zdorovye!

Quartz, Calcite and Pyrite
Specimen #Russia13
Nickolaevsky Mine
Dal'Negorsk
Primorsky Kray
Russian Far East
Russia
7.6x4.0x2.0cm
Small Cabinet
Defunct Local
$50

I'm not the biggest fan of quartz, but this one caught my eye.  It's comprised of a single sea foam green quartz xl that plays host to numerous other mineral xls.  The quartz is terminated, and the termination plays host to numerous other individual quartz xls giving it a rather distinctive look as witnessed in the photo directly below.  Attached to the xl all along its length are tabular, stacked pale pink calcite xl clusters as well as small pyrite and more quartz xls.  This is a very unique and complicated mineral specimen and one that is quite attractive in my opinion.  No damage. Comes mounted on a clear acrylic base.

Siderite "Stalactite"
Specimen #Russia14
Nickolaevsky Mine
Dal'Negorsk
Primorsky Kray
Russian Far East
Russia
7.0x3.0x2.8cm
Small Cabinet
Defunct Local
$75

Here's another VERY unique specimen from the "Mother Country"! It grew in the shape of stalactite and is made up of spherical siderite, rhombohedral and bladed calcite, pyrite, chalcopyrite and quartz xls.  The largest siderite "sphere" is mustard yellow in color and is 2cm in diameter.  The more closely I look at this specimen, the more I find.  It is truly a unique and beautiful mineral specimen from a defunct local.  No damage. Comes mounted on a clear acrylic base.

Native Silver
Specimen #Russia15
Dzhezkazgan
Dzezkazgan Oblast
Kazakhstan
3.0x2.7x1.3cm
Miniature
11.12 grams
$125

This specimen is made up of numerous slender to massive silver wire xls forming a mass of silver intertwined with a bit of matrix and quartz.  It is much better in person than my humble photos portray.  Total weight is 11.12 grams.  No damage.

Sulfur
Specimen #Russia16
Vodinskoye Deposit
Samaraskaya Oblast
Povolzhsky Region
Russia
5.3x4.4x1.7cm
Small Cabinet
$45

This specimen consists of numerous gemmy bright yellow sulfur xls to 1.1cm clustered in a mass of frosty white quartz xls.  A few minor dings, thus the lower price.

Vivianite and Psilomelane
Specimen #Russia17
Kerch peninsula
Crimea Oblast
Ukraine
9.0x7.1x3.3cm
Small Cabinet
$150

This specimen is made up of a base sedimentary matrix that's home to jet black botryoidal psilomelane masses and clusters of lustrous fan shaped blades (to 3.5cm) of vivianite; olive green in color with flashes of blue, green, yellow and purple.  Due to the very fragile nature of the vivianite, some of the terminations could have been sheared off, and if so, it is not readily apparent.  I've been looking at this specimen with a seven power loop and can not really find what I would call damage except for a few edge dings, but just wanted to be up front with what I am seeing.  In my humble mineral loving opinion, this is one incredible mineral specimen!  Spassebo, Do Vstrechi!
