February 24, 2008 Update

A note about the Chinese Silver on Acanthite specimens. Last year (2007) in Tucson was the last time I saw these specimens for sale.  Collector's Edge had a good assortment available from their 2006 mining operations, but when I  brought up the subject of these this year in Tucson, they had not found any additional specimens in the past year.  As with all mining operations, the pocket may have played itself out.  Luckily, when I was sorting through my specimen collection , I found this stash, and it is my last.  A word of wisdom:  If you're interested in one of these specimens, don't hesitate.  This may be the last of these we see for quite awhile.  Enjoy!

If you like native silver wire, then this IS your specimen!  This specimen is made up of a number of slender, delicate and lustrous native silver wires.  In my opinion it has a wonderful and complicated crystalline structure. A very attractive and displayable mineral specimen and as the pictures portray, a wonderful creation from Mother nature!

The specimen is made up of a bed of acanthite that is covered by numerous masses of native silver wire. In addition, there are also a couple of masses of parallel growth xls towards the top of this piece.  It's really a nice three dimensional specimen with wonderful contrast between the native silver and acanthite.  A cool mineral specimen.  Enjoy!

This is one of the most attractive specimens from this update in my humble opinion.  It's made up of  a number of parallel growth silver masses and wire silver clusters between chunks of acanthite. The way it was formed provides for a wonderful contrast between the native silver and acanthite.  Enjoy!

To finish off my humble collection of silver specimens, I've included one a world away from the Chinese specimens listed above.  This one consists of a mass of exquisitely formed silver wire perched on top of matrix.  Looking close at the matrix it displays a very familiar pink color that I believe might be rhodochrosite.  Hey, two bangs for your buck!   A very attractive silver combination specimen in my humble opinion. Enjoy!
