Oh how things have changed since I first started collecting mineral specimens – rocks – all those years ago. I wish I had half the resources available to kids nowadays, back then. I'd guess that many of the publications I use today to help in the identification process, were probably around back then, but as they say, hindsight is always 20/20.
What I'm trying to accomplish in this portion of my Rockshop is to provide you and your kids with tips/advice (I learn something new every day); highlight links that provide what I consider to be good information for the aspiring rock hound; and provide a selection of inexpensive, quality mineral specimens to get your aspiring collector started down the right path.
My policy for this page is a simple one: Affordable, quality mineral specimens, period. With that in mind, you won't ever find a specimen listed on this page in excess of $20.
Here's a few links that will help your aspiring mineral collector get off to the right start.
As I find new and interesting sites, I'll provide the links here.
