We're also proud to announce that our annual Rhodochrosite Fiesta is
almost reading for your viewing pleasure. We hope to have it
posted either this coming Friday evening or sometime on Saturday.
In my humble opinion, this is the best Rhodochrosite update I've ever
put together, with specimens from all around the world. I'll give
you a hint - There will be 10 "rooms" with close to 100 specimens
available ranging in price from around $50 to near $10,000.
Please check back often as I'll be listing it soon.
Thanks again for your continued interest and please get back to us with
any comments you might have.
May 19, 2008 Today's

your

February 25, 2008 I've
completed my third and fourth updates of 2008 and listed below are the
links that
will take you to them. The theme of these updates is rather
festive as we've updated our site with Native Silver and Gold
specimens. The silver on acanthite specimens are the last I have
(and have seen) from a find in China dating back to 2005. There's
also a nice silver specimen from Peru.
The
gold specimens come from the Round Mountain Mine in Nevada which I
purchased them when gold prices were a bit more reasonable than the
$945/troy ounce of today. There's also a very nice nugget from
Australia for your viewing pleasure. At these prices, I'm not
sure how
much longer I'll be able to afford to purchase and resell gold
specimens. For now, I have a reasonable supply that we will
continue to offer at reasonable prices, while the supply holds out.

around this wonderful world of ours and have put together an update
with 19 wonderful and affordable pieces. To check them out,

January 30, 2008 I've
completed my first update of 2008 and listed below is the link that
will take you to it. I recently purchased a number of excellent
(and affordable) Descloizite specimens from the Berg Aukus Mine,
Grootfontein, Namibia. These are really excellent, colorful
specimens in my humble opinion and I enjoyed trying to capture their
complex geometry in my humble photographs. To check them out,
please click on the link listed below.
I also plan to list a collection of worldwide classics later this week
or early next. Then Kim and I are off to Tucson. Enjoy!

specimens, please

January 27, 2008 Greetings
and Happy New Year to you all. We hope that your New Year has been full
of good cheer and good luck so far. As we prepare for our trip to
Tucson, I'd like to update y'all on upcoming postings.
I'm currently photographing a number of excellent Descloizite specimens
from Grootfontein, Namibia. I anticipate having them posted
sometime later this week. After that, I hope to post a mixed
suite of worldwide classics before departing to Tucson on February
9th.
I've been amassing quite a collection of impressive Rhodochrosite
specimens and plan to post them for your surfing pleasure sometime in
early March. After that, I'll be hosting my next solo auction on
John Veevaerts auction site in late March.
After that............who knows? We'll probably be posting our
Tucson finds. My plan for this year is to try and post as many
updates and participate in as many multi-dealer auctions ( http://www.mineral-auctions.com/)
as possible.
Lastly, I returned home from the Christmas Holidays with a
approximately 117 grams of crystalline gold. With gold prices
recently hitting an all time high of around $915 dollars/troy ounce,
this is a significant purchase. Initially, I plan to offer this
entire collection of 70+ specimens as a single lot. I plan to
list this significant collection of Native Gold specimens in the next
week or so, so stay tuned.
It looks to be a fairly busy year for AA Rockshop especially since Kim
and I became engaged on Christmas Day. That means we have a wedding to
plan for this summer on top of a day to day job as a Forest Service
manager, a full-time student, and running an online business. I
love staying busy and this year should keep us both moving at warp
speed.
Stay tuned, the best is yet to come.
All the Best!

December 10, 2007 - End of the Year
Clearance Sale It's
been a busy year and the New Year promises to be a better one
yet. I already have purchases lined up for new Rhodochrosite and
Gold specimens and am planning for an extended visit to Tucson this
coming February. With all the new goodies I plan to list, I
thought the time ripe for an Inventory Liquidation or Clearance Sale.
My plans for next year are to revamp and refresh each of the "country"
rooms and to offer a number of specialized updates, such as my annual
tribute to my mineral specimen of choice, Rhodochrosite! I'll try to
update my Kid's Corner as well as time permits.
So for the
next 10 days (or so), I'm offering all of the specimens in my country
rooms at a whopping 50% off their
listed prices and 25% off the
specimens listed in my "Updates" Section. Specimens in my Kid's Corner
are already at rock bottom prices, but if you find something that
catches your eye and you're placing another order, feel free
to make me an offer. I'm always open to offers!
I'll accept orders
through December 19th as my last expected shipping date will be
December 20th. After that, I'll be on vacation for the Christmas
Holiday! To start your shopping experience, please
November 27, 2007 - Nepalese Blue
Aquamarines I
picked these up while visiting Scott Werschky in Reno. They are
the bluest beryl var. aquamarine specimens I have ever come
across. They have rather complex terminations and are really
quite attractive in my estimation. To view them, please
November 18, 2007 I've completed my latest
Gold update for your viewing pleasure. As gold prices continue to
go up and up, I've kept the prices of these specimens reflective of the
price I paid for them earlier this year when gold prices were
significantly lower. I've listed seven very attractive specimens
that range in price from $40 to $500. I believe there's something
here for every collector's taste. To check out these
quality gold specimens, please click here.
October 9, 2007 I'm excited to announce
that the specimens I recently acquired from the Wolfgang Pohl
collection are ready for your viewing pleasure. There are
nineteen specimens from all around the world along with a number of
rarities. To check out these quality specimens, please click here.
September 27, 2007 It's been a VERY busy
summer and I'm finally beginning to find the time to put together a
number of updates. I've created a page that highlights a number of my
recent acquisitions which I plan to post in the coming weeks.
Please take a look and get back to me if you have any questions or
special requests. Thanks for your patience and I'll be "seeing"
y'all soon. You can take a look at this preview by clicking
here.
July 22, 2007 The time has come for my
annual tribute to my favorite mineral species - Rhodochrosite. I
collect specimens throughout the year and then share them with
y'all. This years update contains specimens from all around this
wonderful world of ours. From China to Peru. From South
Africa to Colorado. I hope you enjoy it!
One political comment on the wonderful world of Rhodochrosite and
mineral specimens in general. The one thing that I'm finding and
I'm sure allot of my fellow mineral dealers will attest to is the fact
that prices seem to keep going up and up. Kinda like housing
prices in California. The question I keep asking is: How high will they
go? I found that specimens I was paying $20-30 for a few years
back are now getting close to $100. The internet has shrunk the
world and raised prices. Oh well - I still enjoyed collecting all
of these specimens and am happy to share them with you.
I truly believe that there's something in my update for every
collector. There are rocks from $10 up to almost $3000. Be
sure to check out the last specimen I've listed from Sweet Home.
$3000 may seem like quite a bit to spend on a rock, but this is a
relative bargain compared to the prices I see other dealers asking for
Sweet Home pieces of this quality. It's truly an awesome specimen
worth checking out at least. Oh well, enough politicking.

listed below. There are four full pages of updates. Enjoy!

Rhodochrosite Update
June 17, 2007 Happy Fathers Day to all
you Dad's out there! My latest update takes us down under to
explore the wonderful world of Australian mineral specimens. I've
prepared two pages of specimens for your browsing pleasure. One
consists of 10 random specimens from Crocoite to Spessartine. The
other page updates my Stellerite page of a year ago. The
specimens I presented for sale last year were acknowledged in the on
line version of the Mineralogical Record in their "What's New"
section. There are six new specimens I'm presenting here for your
viewing pleasure. To check out my latest updates please click on either
or both of the following two pages. Thank you for your patience
and I hope to be uploading a really awesome Rhodochrosite update in the
next couple of weeks. As I get closer to posting it, I'll let y'all
know.

April 5, 2007 I've gone through my recent Tucson
acquisitions and my stock of specimens and have prepared a very nice
update of Wulfenite specimens from Utah and Arizona. There are
specimens presented here that meet every collectors taste and
affordability factors. I have created two pages for your viewing and
purchasing pleasure, so click
here for my latest update.
Info on future updates. Coming next - Australian Minerals
They were the
theme of this years Tucson show. Following that will be a mixed bag of
Tucson goodies. After that I plan to complete a fairly large
Rhodochrosite update, which many of you have been asking about.
With all the interest that it generates, I feel that my Rhodo update
will become an annual event. I'm currently still acquiring
specimens for the Rhodo update so that is why I'm holding off on it for
now. I hope (don't hold me to this) to have all of these updates
completed by the around the end of April to the middle of May. As
always, if you're interested in getting info about my latest updates
first, please sign up for my mailing list. You can find this
option on my front page. Check out my
collection of wulfenite specimens here.
Enjoy!
March 14, 2007 I'll be holding my second solo auction on
John Veevaert's Mineral Auction site from March 15 through March
20. I've listed seventy six (YES, that's 76) quality specimens
for your bidding pleasure. There are a number of Barlow
Rhodochrosite's, unique specimens, a killer Sweet Home piece and
wonderful specimens from all around this planet of ours. Please
go the "Special
Auction" site to see all of these awesome specimens. The
auction starts at 10:00am Central time on March 15th, and runs through
8:00pm Central time on March 20th. Please check it out as I
believe there's something there to meet every collector's tastes.
Enjoy and Happy Bidding!
January 29, 2007 I've updated my South America Room and
added 19 new specimens. I went through my collection of Central
and South American specimens and had a hard time figuring out what to
list. I was in a "colorful" mood, so I think this update reflects
that mood. There are a number of quality apatite, rutile and
tourmaline specimens listed. Enough said........This update has
something for everybody, so if you'd like to check it out.......please
January 20, 2007 I've updated my Africa Room and added a
number of new specimens. Folks have been asking for more
Boltwoodite specimens, so I've added 3 new pieces. I've
reconfigured how this room works and hopefully it makes easier for
y'all to navigate. This is how I plan to update all of my other
country rooms as time permits. I might get a few more rooms
completed before Tucson, but no promises. My intent is to display
around ten specimens in each country room. As a room gets down to
less than five available specimens, I'll update it with new
pieces. If you have any comments or questions, please feel free
to write as I appreciate hearing your feedback. To view my "new"
Africa room, please
December 16, 2006 I finally found the time to sort through
my hoard of rocks and picked out twenty that I found especially
appealing. In addition, a number of you had requested that I list
more Russian rocks, so that's exactly what I did. I've put
together two pages of very attractive and affordable mineral
specimens. Page one is rocks from Russia and page two contains
some very nice specimens from all around the world. The minerals
listed on these two pages do not qualify for my 25% off Christmas
sale. To have received a discount for the minerals listed on
these two pages, you needed to be on my mailing list at the time I
listed the specimens as my list members receive a 10% discount on these
specimens. Further incentive to sign up for my mailing
list. Membership has its advantages!

August
1, 2005 -
Welcome to my
Rockshops initial
offerings and to what I hope will be a long and winding road to mineral
nirvana (My apologies to the Beatles). Make yourself comfortable, put
on some comfy clothes, fasten your seat belt and hold on, ‘cuz the wild
ride is just beginning.
A
few years back a friend suggested that I quit
dinking around with “minor” mineral purchases and get off my butt and
do something about my growing obsession with mineral collecting. Long
story short, he made me an offer I couldn't resist. Bottom line, he
sold me a significant collection of mineral specimens from all over the
world and voila, a new mineral dealer was born.
Skip
forward a few years and you've now entered the
“mineral zone”. You might ask; “Why in the world did it take you so
long to get from point A to point B”? Honestly, I could makes lots of
excuses, but I'm sure you wouldn't be interested in hearing any of
them. My goal has always been to provide quality mineral specimens at
reasonable prices, and with aarockshop, I have
achieved my goal.
I've been browsing the web for about as long as most
of you and have seen many a site come and go. I've made a special
effort to search out fellow mineral dealers and learn from their sites.
What I've found is that some sites are cumbersome and difficult to
navigate while some post what I consider to be, inferior quality
photographs. I have been a photographer since my teens and have been
practicing my digital imaging skills for the past few years. In
building this site, I always had in mind what I would want to see in a
mineral website: Quality specimens, reasonable prices, good photos,
excellent descriptions and a site that's easily navigated. I feel I've
achieved what I have set out to do!
For this initial offering I felt it important to
display specimens from all around this wonderful world
of ours. Since the bulk of what I initially purchased (and
have added to significantly since) hails from the US of A, you'll see
the USA Room populated with a few more
specimens than other rooms. My intent over the months and years to come
is to provide you with a wonderful assortment of worldwide mineral
specimens. And lest I forget the kid in all of us, I've created a “ Kids Corner ” to help the aspiring collector start
down the right path.
I am always open to suggestions, comments, critique,
opinions and special requests. If you're looking for something special,
please drop me a line and
Ill let you know if I can fulfill your wishes, and if not, suggest a
dealer who might. To me, this is neither a competition nor an effort to
get rich quick. I love my day job and mineral collecting as well.
Hopefully this will become more evident as the months and years go by.
Thanks for stopping by! Please take a look around and
let me know what you think of my site.
