Inesite with Hubeite & Apophyllite
Specimen #W0811
Fengjiashan Mine
(Daye Copper Mine)
Daye
Huangshi area
Hubei
Central South Region
China
1.8 x 1.5 x 1.2cm
Thumbnail
$35

Here's an attractive inesite specimen from currently one of the best producing locals in the world - China. It's made up of a number of striated pink inesite xls with a bit of attached apophyllite that has a druzy coating of micro hubeite xls.  Nice piece!

Lepidolite and Quartz
Specimen #W0812
Paprock
Kunar Province
Nuristan
Afghanistan
7.3 x 5.4 x 5.0cm
Small Cabinet
$150

Here's an unusual and attractive specimen from Afghanistan. It's made up of a number of lilac to lavender colored, tabular lepidolite xls nestled in a bed of quartz xls.  I can honestly say that I've never quite seen anything like the lepidolite xls on this piece. Their color is unique!  Nice piece!

Libenthenite
Specimen #W0813
Mindola open pit
Near Kiwe
Zambia
3.0 x 2.7 x 2.0cm
Large Thumbnail
$75

Libethenite is part of the Olivenite group and this local has produced some of the better examples of the species.  The xl measures 1.0x0.8cm, is dark green, intact and blade shaped. Very difficult to accurately portray such dark specimens in one dimensional photographs!  It's a very nice specimen never the less.  Enjoy!

Malachite
Specimen #W0814
Bisbee
Warren District
Mule Mountains
Cochise County
Arizona
11.3
x 7.0 x 4.7cm
Cabinet
$50

Here's an interesting malachite specimen from Arizona.  It consists of an open vug that contains two generations of malachite xls.  One generation is botryoidal and the other elongated prismatic xls or sprays.  Their are three nice sprays nestled in the vug and I couldn't find any angle where I could capture them all.  The larger xl (photo below) obscures the one behind it.
Nice piece!
(Please note - 1lb 9oz or .7kg = higher shipping charge)

Pyrite +/- Marcasite
Specimen #W0815
Sweetwater Mine
Reynolds County
Missouri
3.4
x 1.7 x 1.4cm
Miniature
$50

Here's a very unusual and attractive pyrite and or marcasite specimen from Missouri.
Marcasite is dimorphous with pyrite.
dimorphous - occurring or existing in two different forms
Greek dimorphos having two forms, from di- + -morphos -morphous
The specimen is complete all around, is dendritic in shape, appears to be a floater and is much shinier in person than my humble photographs portray.  Cool rock!

Pyromorphite var. Polysphaerite
Specimen #W0816
Bunker Hill Mine
Kellogg
Shoshone County
Idaho
6.3 x 3.5 x 1.0cm
Small Cabinet
$75

Here's a very attractive mineral specimen from just east of me.  It can be displayed from either side as both are literally covered by butterscotch colored, globular pyromorphite clusters.  According to Wikipedia: Pyromorphite varieties containing calcium isomorphously replacing lead are lower in density (specific gravity 5.9 - 6.5) and usually lighter in color; they bear the names polysphaerite (because of the globular form).
No damage to this outstanding mineral specimen!

Realgar
Specimen #W0817
Green River Gorge
Northside
King County
Washington
7.5 x 4.8 x 2.5cm
Small Cabinet

This is a first for me.  I picked this piece up from a local dealer because I had never seen a realgar specimen from Washington State before.  It consists of matrix with what I would describe as a powdery coating of realgar xls.  Under magnification they are quite intact, somewhat gemmy and are bright red orange in color.  A neat piece from just north of us here in Oregon.

Gypsum var Selenite on Halite
Specimen #W0818
Pisco
Pisco Province
Ica Department
Peru
7.5
x 6.5 x 4.0cm
Small Cabinet
$60
ex R. Lee Kearney Collection

This specimen is made up of tabular, diamond shaped, prismatic selenite xls to 1.7cm that display a wonderful golden color. They're nestled on top of a bed of water clear to slightly opaque halite xls to 1.7cm.  The selenite xls are virtually damage free.  A wonderful and very showy mineral specimen!

Smithsonite
Specimen #W0819
79 Mine
Hayden
Gila County
Arizona
5.3 x 4.2 x 4.0cm
Small Cabinet
$115

I've saved one of my favorite specimens for last.  It's made up of matrix (open vug) that's covered by masses of botryoidal, opalescent smithsonite xls.  I really like their sheen and luster and they look rather velvety as well.  No damage. A very good example of Mother Nature at her best!
