On my way to Tucson this year, I overnighted in Quartzite and did a little mineral shopping. I found one dealer (Prospector's Corner) that had some interesting mineral specimens and this is one of several I purchased.
The term "Angelwing Chalcedony" refers to chalcedony formation characterized by groups of chalcedony filaments often intricately woven or connected together. They occur most often in the center of a vein or vug of agate, but can also occur in the center of a hollow thunderegg. Sometimes the chalcedony forms can group together in a wing shape.
All of the Anglewing specimens I've sold in the past have come from Oregon. This one hails from Brazil and is unique in that it displays a pale pink color which I've never seen in Oregon Specimens. It displays countless xls that remind me and give it the name - Anglewing. A very attractive and damage free specimen. Perhaps a contact point, but nothing I would describe as damage. This is one cool rock!
