Rhodochrosite, Quartz and Pyrite from Sweet Home Mine, Alma, Colorado

While prepping for this update, I came across a box of minerals that I purchased many years ago at the Tucson Show, around 2001. This specimen comes from Karen Wenrich of Crystals Unlimited, based out of Golden, Colorado. Karen has been a great source of quality, affordable sweet home specimens for us. The last time we purchased rhodochrosite from her, she mentioned that her supply was near exhausted and she would have no more. Quality, affordable Sweet Home specimens are a thing of the past as most specimens I see, command 5 to 6 figure prices. Here's your chance to own an attractive and affordable Sweet Home specimen.

It consists of a couple of inter-grown rhombs (and one partial). One displaying a stepped face with some contact points, while the other (2.5x1.3cm) displays sharp rhombohedral edges, a translucent cherry pink color and is quite gemmy. It also has a bit of a pyrite coating and grew over several water clear quartz xls (one cleaved). To my Rhodo loving mind, this is a excellent Sweet Home Rhodo specimen that it's new owner will treasure and enjoy for many a year to come.
